If Only...." /> If Only...." /> If Only...." />

“… there are few places that we must visit in life, like a graveyard, silent…. dignified… and still…. when we have cause to go there, the granite… stands silently witnessing to the effectiveness of the grim reaper… and … we think very solemnly, that underneath the sod, there lie the bones of shattered hopes, unfulfilled ambitions, perished plans, and unpaid debts… as we look around at this tragic piece of real estate, we know that it has drunk in the tears of the widow, the fatherless…. as we sit quietly in one of those places, it seems like the very sound of the wind thru the trees is in the minor key…

...the gardener has done his best with it -like the cosmetologist, he has tried to hide the horror of death beneath lovely lawns, those much too tidy gardens… as we walk along those perfectly formed paths, we are made very conscious that the silence we feel here is not the rest of victory but really, the silence of defeat….we can cover it as we will and try to hide its horrror, but that pathetic plot of land is not only filled with something that is now unlovely, but it is also filled with unanswered questions….many a weeping soul has asked over some open grave….why, why, why? Its a kind of frustrating piece of field…. if only it had been different, if only this had not happened…. there’s a frustration about it. It seems all we can do is…. turn in our sorrows and leave the grave behind us, and go to our lonely room and eat the bread of sorrow and the drink cup of weeping… at least that is how it would be, if it wasn’t for one thing….” For if we open our bibles we find that this is not the end of the story...

Jesus said "I am the resurrection and the life, he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live, and he that liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?"
