I meet many people in my travels, and they are looking for the “golden day,” the day they can retire and take it easy. No more getting up in the morning, no more fighting traffic, no more the pressure of selling, or working, or doing, just to take it easy. Play a little golf, take a few trips, do the things we always wanted to do in life. Friend, it’s a mirage, it’s a dream. It’s a mist that blows away. Don’t bank on it.…men constantly think…desire…if only they can get some kind of gain that will make them secure.

One night I dashed out to the drugstore near closing time, and a lady came rushing up all excited and almost out of breath. She said “is it too late to buy my (lottery) ticket?” Here in Ontario, all you have to do is buy a ticket and you can become an instant millionaire. And the clerk said, ‘no, you have just a few minutes before we are going to close and this is the last day for these tickets.’ And the woman said, ‘oh quick then, give me some tickets’, and there she stood almost trembling writing down numbers and stuff. And I stepped back and took a good look at her. She was a well dressed and nice looking lady, but I pitied her in my heart. I really did. And I could not refrain myself and I said “well, madam I am so glad I don’t have to buy one of those.” “Oh, she said, and why not?” Well I said “I’m rich already” “Oh, she said standing up straighter, is that so?” “Yes,” I said, “as a matter of fact, as I stand here before you I am so rich I don’t even know what I am worth.” She looked me up and down. “Well, she said, I always wanted to meet a rich man.” I said “Shake, now you have met one.” So we shook hands and she said “How did you get it?” “Oh, I got it by inheritance.” She said, “Ah, that was the easy way.” “Yes,” I said, “it was easy for me, but it wasn’t easy for my father.” About this time a few ladies came out of the aisle, hearing the conversation, and it is amazing when you hear the term ‘riches’ how it draws them like moths to a candle.

And I had four or five ladies standing around, and I had the joy of telling them how my Father gave His only begotten Son , who died on the cross to make me rich, with the riches that will stand the impact of death, and even the collapse of the universe. Riches that will come to maturity in eternity, with an interest that will never diminish. The pharmacist was a man from east India, he was at the front and was listening and said “ladies, what this gentleman says is true. I am not a Christian, but I was raised in a home of opulent riches, and we never had a happy day in our home, and you had better listen to him.” Boyd N.

Luke 12:13-21
Then one from the crowd said to Him, “Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me.” But He said to him, “Man, who made Me a judge or an arbitrator over you?” And He said to them, “Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses.”

Then He spoke a parable to them, saying: “The ground of a certain rich man yielded plentifully. And he thought within himself, saying, ‘What shall I do, since I have no room to store my crops?’ So he said, ‘I will do this: I will pull down my barns and build greater, and there I will store all my crops and my goods. And I will say to my soul, “Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years; take your ease; eat, drink, and be merry.”’ But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul will be required of you; then whose will those things be which you have provided?’
