¿Se necesita ser evangélico para salvarse?
—No, David, no interesa en convertirse a una denominación o religión, ninguna por sí sola puede salvar.
—Pero, Miguel, ¿no cree usted que la Iglesia Católica Romana puede salvarnos de nuestros pecados?
—Por supuesto que no.
—¿Quiere decir que debemos hacernos evangélicos?
—No, nunca pido que nadie sea evangélico.
—No entiendo, Miguel, usted es evangélico, y ¿no cree que la iglesia evangélica puede salvar?
—No, David, no creo que los evangélicos tienen más poder para salvar que los católicos.
—Si ellos no pueden salvarnos, ¿cómo podemos ser salvos?
—Repito, David, que ni la Iglesia Católica, ni cualquier Iglesia Evangélica puede salvar. Ninguna Iglesia puede salvar por más buena que sea. Solamente se salva por el Señor Jesucristo. Se salva por fe en una persona: Jesucristo el Hijo de Dios es el que murió por nosotros, fue sepultado, y resucitó de entre los muertos. Él triunfó sobre el pecado y la muerte, y es vivo y poderoso para salvar.
—¡Cómo es posible esto! Nunca fui enseñado así.
—No se adelante en hacerse evangélico, porque hay miles
y quizás millones de evangélicos que no son salvos. Se dicen que son cristianos, pero nunca aceptaron al Cristo del cristianismo, y no tienen paz en sus almas.
—¿Cómo se encuentra la paz, Miguel?
—La paz viene cuando confiamos en Cristo Jesús como nuestro único y suficiente Salvador.
—Yo pienso que se debe tener fe en la virgen María, y también en los santos. ¿No pueden ellos ayudarnos algo?
—La Palabra de Dios dice que “en ningún otro hay salvación [evangélico o católico]; porque no hay otro nombre bajo el cielo [ni por la virgen o los santos], dado a los hombres, en que podamos ser salvos” (Hechos 4:12). Si uno confía en otros, además que Cristo, está negando lo que Dios dice, y también está dudando que Cristo es suficiente para salvar. La paz viene por confiar solo en Cristo. Él dijo: “La paz os dejo, Mi paz os doy; yo no os la doy como el mundo la da. No se turbe vuestro corazón, ni tenga miedo” (Juan 14:27). La paz es para “los que creemos en el que levantó de los muertos a Jesús, Señor nuestro, el cual fue entregado por nuestras transgresiones, y resucitado para nuestra justificación. Justificados, pues, por la fe, tenemos paz para con Dios por medio de nuestro Señor Jesucristo” (Romanos 4:24-5:1).
—¿Qué necesitamos hacer entonces?
—“Cree en el Señor Jesucristo, y serás salvo” (Hechos 16:31). “A todos los que le recibieron, a los que creen en Su nombre, les dio potestad [derecho] de ser hechos hijos de Dios” (Juan 1:12).
—¿Recibirá el Señor Jesucristo a nosotros también?
—Sí, Cristo recibe a todos los que vienen a Él. Él dijo: “Al que a Mí viene, no le echo fuera” (Juan 6:37). Él le ama, sí, y Él murió por usted en la cruz del Calvario. Acéptale ahora como tu Salvador. “De cierto, de cierto os digo: El que oye Mi palabra, y cree al que Me envió, tiene vida eterna; y no vendrá a condenación, mas ha pasado de muerte a vida” (Juan 5:24). “Porque por gracia sois salvos por medio de la fe; y esto no de vosotros, pues es don de Dios; no por obras, para que nadie se gloríe” (Efesios 2:8-9).

“Must we become Protestants in order to be saved?”
“No, my friend. I wouldn’t waste my time trying to convert you to Protestantism.”
“But you don’t believe that either the Roman Catholic or the Greek Orthodox Church can save a soul, do you?”
“No, I don’t.”
“Well then, I am a Roman Catholic and my friend here is a member of the Greek Orthodox Church, neither of which you say can save our souls. But you are a Protestant, and yet you don’t seem to think it’s necessary to turn Protestant to be saved.”
“That’s correct. I have never asked any Catholic, Greek or Roman, to turn Protestant.”
“I don’t understand. Don’t you believe that Protestantism can save a soul?”
“No, I don’t. Protestantism has no more power to save a soul from an eternity in hell than Catholicism has.”
“Well then, how can a person’s soul be saved? There are only three great Christian churches!”
“Let me repeat . . . none of the three—the Roman Catholic, the Greek Orthodox, or the Protestant Church—can save a person’s soul from an eternity in hell. No church can save, but the LORD JESUS CHRIST can save!”
“JESUS?”
“Yes, my friends, you can be saved, not by the Church, either Catholic or Protestant, but only through one person, and that Person is the Lord Jesus Christ, God’s beloved Son.”
“I am amazed that we have never heard this before!”
“So you see, it would do you no good to become Protestants, for there are thousands of Protestants who are not saved—thousands who have embraced Christianity but have never accepted the Christ of Christianity!”
“Is that why we have not found peace? Is there no peace in Catholicism?”
“No, sadly, there isn’t, and there is none in Protestantism either. Peace is found only in Jesus. Religion cannot save a person’s soul; only Jesus Christ can.”
“But are you sure of this?”
“Yes, I am positive, because this is what God says: ‘Neither is there salvation in any other [Protestant or Catholic]: for there is none other name [Greek Orthodox, Roman Catholic, or Protestant] under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved’ (Acts 4:12). ‘Thou shalt call His name JESUS: for He [not the Catholic priest nor the Protestant minister, but HE—Jesus Christ] shall save His people from their sins’ (Matthew 1:21).”
“Then what should we do?”
“God says, ‘Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved’ (Acts 16:31). And when you have taken that step, He promises, ‘As many as received HIM, to them gave He power to become the sons of God’ (John 1:12).”
“But will He accept us?”
“Here is His kind and compassionate answer to that question: ‘Him that cometh to Me I will in no wise cast out’ (John 6:37).”
“Thank God! That is really good news!”
“Jesus loves you so much that He died for you. When He hung on the cross, He paid the penalty for the sins of every man, woman and child who would personally believe that He is the Saviour of sinners. Then come and accept Him; trust His work and death on the cross that has made payment for your sins. Receive Him now as your Saviour and know that you are saved, for He will ‘have mercy’ and ‘abundantly pardon.’ ”
“Amen, amen, I say unto you, that he who heareth My word, and believeth Him that sent Me, hath life everlasting; and cometh not into judgment but is passed from death to life” (St. John 5:24, Douay Trans.).
“By grace you are saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, for it is the gift of God; not of works that no man may glory” (Ephesians 2:8-9, Douay Trans.).
